Big and Little Sister Mentor Program
The League Board of Directors created the Big and Little Sister Mentor Program in 1978. This program is designed as a preventive effort to help provide guidance to girls early enough to make a difference in their lives. The Mentor program typically serves 150 to 176 women and girls annually, and is staffed by a program director and interns from local universities.
The Mentor Program Director and her staff are responsible for recruiting, training, matching, and monitoring the Big and Little Sisters. The Program also provides support to the adult mentors by advising them on their relationships with their Little Sisters. They also plan events and distribute tickets and coupons for activities that entertain and enrich the girls.
Big Sisters are volunteers who come to us from various ethnic and age groups, all walks of life, and every corner of San Diego County.
